Accelerating Australia is a national consortium of biomedical research institutions, universities, healthcare providers and companies established in 2017 to support cross-sector, multi-disciplined collaboration and to empower future biomedical leaders.

Our approach

Great ideas are plentiful, but knowing how to turn that idea into something tangible is difficult. Innovators often struggle because the nature of innovation requires working in unchartered territory. Accelerating Australia works as an independent broker and advisor to create better flow from idea to market by providing a national support system for biomedical innovators and entrepreneurs. Our focus is on the time between research and commercialisation — the gap where innovators are most at risk of failing. With a goal of developing talent, we bring together a nationwide consortium of universities, healthcare providers, research institutions and companies to create an environment where biomedical innovators are fully empowered to drive their idea or invention forward across the entire innovation chain, improving access to all the necessary resources needed for success. The resulting innovations provide patient benefits and assist in growing the biomedical industry and future workforce in Australia.

Our consortium is composed of universities, healthcare providers, research institutions and industry, in an unprecedented collaboration to support innovators working in the biomedical field.

Mentoring and Advisory

Accelerating Australia provides free advisory sessions and mentorship to aspiring entrepreneurs and early stage innovators.

Because of the cooperative nature of Accelerating Australia, we’re able to share resources – financial, skills and training – across the consortium to achieve economy of scale benefits.

Accelerating Australia provides a wide range of training, events, mentoring and access to global experts in the biomedical industry.

How Does It Work?

Accelerating Australia is generously supported by MTPConnect, with matched funding coming from our Consortium members. Our consortium includes more than 30 organisations at different levels of membership, combining our resources nationally to advance biomedical translation and enterprise.

Accelerating Australia has operational teams across the country and is headquartered out of the Centre for Entrepreneurial Research and Education in Nedlands, WA.

Our Courses

We offer specialised national and international programs designed to help researchers and innovators foster ideas and shape them into something commercially viable. Accelerating Australia focuses on people, because they are the assets that will change an industry.

CERI Courses

The Centre for Entrepreneurial Research and Innovation helps local researchers acquire the tools to think entrepreneurially and innovatively, diversifying the WA economy and enabling the industries of the future.
